In the case of irritation and combination injuries that affect the wrist as well as the thumb carpometacarpal joint and thumb basal joint, the ManuLoc Rhizo immobilizes the wrist and holds the thumb securely in a relaxed position with a support. The construction of the orthosis can be individually adjusted in line with the progress of treatment, whereby the mobility of the thumb basal joint is gradually increased and eventually the thumb support can be removed. The ManuLoc immobilizes the wrist and thumb in the neutral position and helps alleviate pain (carpometacarpal and metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb.)

The soft, seamless, lightweight, latex-free material, with air pores allows air to circulated so skin can breathe; lies flat against the wrist and still feels very comfortable even after hours of wear. Three anatomically pre-shaped aluminum stays immobilize the wrist in a functional position, relieve strain, and limit radial and ulnar movement. Can be adjusted if needed. The wrist metacarpal bar, and thumb metacarpal stay immobilize while still allowing range of motion for the fingers. The thumb brace fixes the thumb in a relaxed opposition positioning and individually shapeable aluminum frame. Muscle pull is minimized, which relaxes the lateral ligaments.

The immobilization of the wrist and thumb relieves pain immediately, and prevents inappropriate mechanical stress. It can be adjusted in length for optimal fit or removed as the condition improves. All fingers are then released for controlled gripping while the wrist remains secured. The brace offers multi-stage therapies with secure immobilization: a hook and loop tab allows the gradual release of the thumb immobilization to allows a step by step mobilization of the metacarpophalangeal joint. It can be opened completely with three large hook and loop fastenings, making it easy to put on and take off with one hand. Right and left specific for an optimal fit. The ManuLoc Rhizo can be used to treat mild carpal tunnel syndrome, osteoarthritis, tenosynovitis, hand and wrist pain, post-traumatic conditions of the wrist and thumb degenerative conditions.
