Primarily for the first metacarpal-phalangeal (MCP) and first carpo-metacarpal (CMC) joins, the spica offers the user stabilization. The splint also supplies support secondarily for the radio-carpal and radio-ulnar wrist joints. For injuries such as Bennet's or Rolando's fractures, or arthritis, the splint gives stability to toe base of the thumb at the CMC joint.
