To prevent stress on the basal joint, the support places the thumb in the optimum position. The support abducts the thumb and distracts the CMC joint to give user relief. With a low profile, the support allows users to have normal motion of the thumb while supporting the CMC joint. The pressure dot is applied when more support is desired at the CMC joint.
